The inspiration for this work comes from the flowers , and their scent, found in the gardens of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. Two women take a stroll and converse, admiring their surroundings.
The Isthmus of Tehuantepec (tewanteˈpek, or "jaguar mountain") is the narrow stretch of land between the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. Before the opening of the Panama Canal, it was a major overland transport route known simply as the Tehuantepec Route.
