As Sonia often says “I have an obsession with painting roses”. Although roses are a classic, the artist loves the idea of capturing them in their non perfect state. The moment when they cease to be an object of perfection and pass to a state of maturity. For Sonia, this is the most interesting phase. The most surprising. The most attractive. Perhaps they symbolize the artist's stage of life. The stage when one understands that beauty goes far beyond absolute perfection. A stage in which we accept and love ourselves with all our flaws.
